Michelle graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy with Honours in 2004. She has worked in a multitude of different practice areas including Department of Housing, community organisations including Blue Care and OzCare, Queensland Health, Workcover and private practice. Michelle has a love of rural health and is passionate about delivering services to clients in those areas that otherwise could not access OT.
ABCOT started in 2011 in Bundaberg offering a vast range of services to private and government organisations in the Bundaberg area.
Michelle has high level qualifications and experience in minor and major home modifications. Michelle has a strong commitment to the Veteran and War Widow community, having provided services to them for over 19 years.
The name All Bases Covered Occupational Therapy stemmed from Michelle having “all bases covered”. Michelle is a Generalist OT and has high levels of experience with prescription of assistive technology and minor and major home modifications. She has vast experience with assessing and providing therapy for children with physical and cognitive impairments. Michelle is also now providing occupational therapy services to clients with mental health conditions, using the ABCOT therapy farm for sessions. In addition to her high level of Generalist OT skills, she has a vast understanding of all aspects of occupational therapy and other health services to ensure she can refer you on to the appropriate people to reach your goals.
Having experienced her own trauma in her life, Michelle has a strong interest and focus for the future on using animals in therapy. On her own healing journey, Michelle adopted a rescue dog and took up horse riding, which she can testify to being a saving grace for her mental and emotional health. Michelle purchased a farm in 2021 as a healing space for both her and her daughter Cadence and as ABCOT headquarters. Michelle uses the 15 acres of nature, her horse, cows, dog and chickens as part of the therapy for clients that attend ABCOT for mental health occupational therapy.
Michelle is now a qualified Pilates instructor for Mat and Reformer Pilates after studying her Certificate IV with Breathe Education in 2023. Michelle offers Pilates to all of her Occupational therapy clients as a modality for both physical and mental health recovery.
